When an application runs with elevated privileges, the FolderBrowserDialog does not show network drives on Windows 8.

Thank you for your feedback. The issue that you have reported is actually by design. Since UAC was introduced in Windows Vista, the network drive mappings were different between process runing elevated and non-elevated. That lead to some confusion about what's available and in Windows 8 only the network drives available in the context of the application invoking the dialog (elevated or non-elevated) are shown. The behavior is not specific to WinForms - you can easily observe it in any other application, like Notepad, by running it elevated and not elevated.
Many customers have found it useful to discuss issues like this in the forums ( where Microsoft and other members of the community can recommended ways to achieve the behavior you interested in.

Thank your for your reply. This problem can be reproduced with VS 2010 Ultimate or VS 2012 Premium on Windows 8 Entreprise 64-bit. You can find attached a sample project. See the steps to reproduce, you need to comment/uncomment the content of the manifest file in this project.
