Surprisingly I ran into exact same slowness issue on Visual Studio 2012 Update 2, and the solution mentioned in following posts solved my problem -- Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13541411/visual-studio-2012-slow-unit-testing

Thanks Dan. I will be looking forward to your MTM upgrade in February. Please do drop me a mail in case you run into any issue related to MTM.

Sorry, but we simply do not have the resource available to be testing Microsoft Products on top of testing our own Products over the next few months!

We will more than likely revisit MTM2012 in February next year once we've also been able to upgrade to TFS 2012 and we've got certain other commitments the business has out of the way.

You can mark the issue as closed if you wish. You can rest assured that it will be re-raised if the issue is still apparent when we re-upgrade.

Thanks,

Dan.

Hi Dan,

I am really sorry to hear this and would strongly request you to reconsider your decision.

We have done bunch of performance improvements in MTM/Tfs 2012 and if you give us one more chance of debugging this problem, I am sure we should be able to narrow it down and make it work for you.

Please drop a mail at aseemb at the rate of microsoft dot com so that we can have a quick meeting on this problem and take it forward.

Regards

Sorry, We can no longer do this.

When my machine was upgraded to Windows 8, I took a view that the performance of the Test Runner was so poor that I asked for TFS2010 and MTM2010 to be installed instead of 2012.

We may revisit 2012 again once we are confident that it will be of benefit to us.

Hi Dan,

Can you please enable the MTM logs as mentioned on the below link, reproduce the slowness problem and attach the logs to this issue?

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/aseemb/archive/2012/11/15/how-to-enable-logs-for-mtm.aspx

Also can you please share your mail id so that I can get in touch with you and look at the problem live?

1. Is the problem observed only for test cases which are created from MTM 2010 or is it observed for test cases created from MTM 2012 as well?

Yes. The issue is observed regardless of whether the Test Case was created in 2010 or 2012.

2. How much time does the action if you pass the test using UI and without using short-cut?

There is no difference between the two.

3. Can you please try disabling all collectors in your test settings and share whether now the action is faster or not?

We do not currently have any collectors enabled in our Test Settings.

Thanks
