Description

In some circumstances, inline code blocks such as <%= "Hello World" %> are removed from ASPX/ASCX pages when performing the Tools -> Generate Local Resource operation from Design view of these pages instead of being left intact.

One such circumstance is when the inline code block is located within an <asp:UpdatePanel ... />

This bug has been present in Visual Studio for as long as I remember.

This is true when done on a file-by-file basis, but is hugely problematic when running it on hundreds of files and having to painstakingly compare each one with a previous revision to ensure the feature did not corrupt the file.

Still, doesn't the undo feature revert the effect of the generate local resources feature in the ASPX/ASCX?

As the deletion can be easily undone using the editor undo feature this unfortuatenly doesn't meet our bar for fixing in the next release.

I encountered this issue here too.
It removed the markup inside a asp:Content control!
