Not all of us who have a GPS in our Windows 8 device have internet everywhere we go. If we could use all the Maps features offline, it would improve it's usefulness overall.

Absolutely useless on the surface, unless you have an active connection. The 'offline' downloadable maps, never actually download on a regular Surface. They do on my desktop though.... So at least when I'm walking around with my desktop, monitor, keyboard and very, very long power cord I can actually use it!!! I actually own a surface, laptop, and Dell's flavor of the Surface because of the mobility, and synching. Along with O365 pro plus you'd think i'd be good. As a big Microsoft fan, user and MCSE I must say, I have reached my final point of frustration. Looking for alternatives now. Goodbye MS

Hey AHendrix,

From what I can tell over the past few years with the Windows Phone voting system, and even with this current system, Microsoft does in fact look at the top voted complaints and feature suggestions, and come to a decision of which ones they will try to most immediately implement in the next update or OS.

So, the best thing any of us can do to get more attention to these very needed features is to tell as many people with microsoft email accounts and devices as we can to visit this connect site and vote on the features they desire. The more votes, the more recognition and more likely it will be realized.

Note that Windows Phone has this feature. It seems silly that there isn't a counterpart in the larger OS.

Bing Maps team does look at these suggestions. Thanks for the time you take to submit, vote and comment on them!

Ditto. Maps is nearly useless on a Surface RT without downloadable maps.

This entire map issue needs to be "SEEMLESS". Choose and stick with NOKIA maps and buy the damn company! We need the navigation application fully integrated into Windows 8.

We DON'T want a fractured map experience across the device spectrum. Microsoft, listen to your customers moving forward and you'll make a lot more money!!!

Google Maps has this functionality as well as Nokia Here. This needs to be done.

Microsoft Maps is very good - clear and uncluttered. But PLEASE, People at Microsoft, make it downloadable so one doesn't have to find a wireless hot spot to use it. Here in Australia they can be hundreds of miles apart! With the long battery life of an Asus VivoTab Smart and built in GPS it would be so handy. Your loyal customers would also be prepared to pay. Unfortunately no third party software providers are in a rush to provide it for Windows 8. We will be travelling to the USA and Canada in June/July and would love to have it for the trip.

If anyone on this site knows, Does Microsoft ever even look at these? Or is it just here to let us vent about stuff, and they'll ignore it?
I hope they look at these, some are really good suggestions...
